After devastating fire: IDF arrests 2 Palestinians suspected of causing blaze

Two days after a fire devastated the Jewish settlement of Havat Gilad, west of the city of Nablus, Israeli security forces said they arrested two men suspected of causing the fire.

"Undercover Border Police officers operating in Judea and Samaria, together with IDF troops, arrested two Palestinian suspects on suspicion of involvement in starting the fire at Havat Gilad. The suspects have been transferred to the Judea and Samaria District Central Investigations Unit for questioning," the police said in a statement.

Israel Police said that it suspects the fire was caused by a cigarette thrown from a moving vehicle, though representatives of the settlement movement have accused local Palestinians of arson. The fire caused damage to dozens of buildings and vehicles.
