2nd anti-UNRWA law cutting water & electricity from its compounds advances to next readings in the Knesset

The Israeli Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee approved the draft bill for the so-called "2nd UNRWA Law" for its required 2nd and 3rd readings on Tuesday, before the bill can be passed into law.

The bill by MK Yulia Malinovsky (Yisrael Beiteinu) proposes to cut off water and electricity from UNRWA facilities, evict UNRWA from its Ma’alot Dafna compound in East Jerusalem, and revoke its immunity from lawsuits as a UN organization.

The bill’s sponsor, MK Malinovsky stated: “UNRWA is a terrorist organization and has no right to exist. It is absurd that the State of Israel allows terrorists to use its infrastructure and resources, and this law is meant to correct that disgrace. Moreover, the days in which UNRWA enjoyed legal immunity are over, and it will be possible to sue them for the crimes they committed and are still committing.”

“The law will be brought for second and third readings in the Knesset plenum, and we will finally put an end to the activity of this terrorist organization in the State of Israel.”
