2 IDF soldiers killed, 4 severely wounded by Hezbollah bomb in southern Lebanon
IDF Major (Res.) Harel Birenstock and Chief Master Sergeant (Res.) Tamir Vaknin were killed and four IDF reserve soldiers were severely injured in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, the Israeli military announced this morning.
The incident occurred when troops were searching for Hezbollah infrastructure in the area of the village of Majdal Zoun, located within the Security Zone in southern Lebanon, according to Army Radio.
The force entered a building in the area, triggering an explosive device that had been planted there.
The IDF launched "precise" air- and artillery strikes against terror targets in the area in response to what it called "a blatant violation of the ceasefire."
