CNN’s Scott Jennings: 'You can’t trust Iran. Time to cut off the head of the octopus.'

American television networks—particularly left-leaning ones like MSNBC and CNN—have often been less than objective in covering stories involving Israel, from the October 7th Hamas massacres to highlighting demonstrations on U.S. college campuses where students chanting “From the river to the sea” waving Palestinian flags were harassing Jewish students at Columba University. More sympathetic video was often broadcast featuring allegations of mistreatment of civilians in Gaza than of families in Israel anxiously awaiting release of their family members being cruelly held hostage by Hamas.
One shining exception to the often biased television coverage has been CNN commentator Scott Jennings, whose strong pro-Israel opinions and incisive debate skills have offered balance and honesty rarely seen on other outlets.
Over the past nine days, Scott was traveling throughout Israel and—on Thursday night—he was stationed in the city of Tiberias on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee when IDF forces launched their strategic air attacks on Iran.
“I watched missile after missile fly overhead,” Jennings told The Mike Gallagher Show on America’s Salem Radio Network during an interview on Monday. “I also watched a lot of Israeli fighter jets going in the direction of Iran. Of course, in the United States we don’t experience this…except to watch it on television. For people in Israel, dodging rockets is often part of daily life.”
Speaking from a studio in Amman, Jordan where he was able to travel early Monday, Jennings added that despite the constant threats of missile attacks—most of which are usually dispatched by the Iron Dome—it was “crazy” being on the ground in Israel as the strikes and counterstrikes were unleashed. “It is hard to describe the feeling one gets when you see cruise missiles and intercontinental ballistic missiles and then the interceptors go up, destroy them, and debris comes showering down.” He applauded the bravery of Israeli citizens and described his own reaction as “a wild, surreal experience to see the Holy Land under siege.”
Reports in The Wall Street Journal and other media indicate that after IDF pummeling, suddenly Iran wants to deescalate hostilities and head back to the negotiating table. “Of course they do,” Jennings observes, “because Israel has this evil regime on its knees. In the past few days, Israel has created complete air supremacy over Iran and has taken out the senior military leadership of the country. They’ve got Iran on the run and for good reason: Iran was on the brink of developing a nuclear weapon.”
Readers of ALL ISRAEL NEWS know that a nuclear warhead in the hands of Islamic radicals in Iran is not just a philosophical debate point but rather an existential threat to Israel’s very existence as well as the stability of the entire Middle East. Iran’s principal aim is the destruction of Israel…but when they chant “Death to Israel” they simultaneously chant “Death to America.” In Iran’s perspective, Israel is the “Little Satan” but America is the “Great Satan”; this is what the regime has stood for since it was founded in 1979.
U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson just stated that “Israel was backed into a corner, and had to defend its very existence. I fully support Israel, and I think our nation does as well. We understand they (Israelis) must do what they must do and we’ll see what happens next.”
What Israel must do next—in Scott Jennings’ view—is to “finish the job.” He quotes the America First policy of President Donald J. Trump in declaring America simply will not allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon. “If they did, they’d use it immediately,” Jennings warns. And he contends we cannot leave the current regime in charge. “They’ll negotiate and say they’ll stop, but you can’t trust these folks any farther than you can throw them. They’ve killed Americans, and plotted to unleash terrorism on Israeli and American interests around the world.”
Bottom line, according to the CNN conservative commentator: “The fight for Western Civilization is now. We’ve got the enemy on its knees. And taking nothing away from Israel and the IDF, I think President Trump is the leader in that fight. Cutting the head off that octopus and eliminating Islamic terrorism will save the free world. The President has the power to do it and I believe he will.”
American TV networks would do well to heed the wise observations of Scott Jennings. Their so-called “objective journalism” may seem good on paper or in Journalism classes at college, but national newscasts sorely need the kind of reasoned, conservative perspective an opinionated commentator like Scott Jennings could infuse into their broadcasts while the world holds its collective breath for the ultimate outcome of Israel’s powerful remaking of the Middle East this week.
