On the morning of October 7, 2023, IDF Staff Sgt. Yona Brief charged into gunfire in the southern Israeli kibbutz Kfar Aza to rescue wounded comrades. Hit by 13 bullets, he became the most critically injured survivor of that brutal day. Against every medical prediction, Yona clung to life through 417 days of surgeries and rehabilitation, inspiring an entire nation with his grit, humor, and faith.

In November 2024, Yona’s body could fight no longer and he passed away, but his legacy of self-sacrifice and hope lives on.
