A historic moment unfolded in the skies over Iran as an Israeli F-35 fighter jet shot down an Iranian aircraft.

The Israeli version of the aircraft, the F-35I “Adir,” is widely considered one of the most advanced fighter jets in the world. Equipped with Israeli communication systems and the ability to carry advanced Israeli weapons, the aircraft is designed to preserve Israel’s technological edge in the Middle East.

While the F-35 is a stealth, multi-role fighter capable of supersonic flight and advanced intelligence gathering, the Iranian aircraft reportedly involved — a Yak-130 — was originally designed primarily as a training jet and lacks stealth capabilities or comparable combat performance.
