Israel launched “Dror 1”, its first fully national communication satellite, into orbit from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Weighing 4.5 tons and entirely developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), Dror 1 represents a milestone in Israeli innovation and strategic independence.

Unlike earlier reliance on commercial or foreign-built satellites, Dror 1 is the result of a government-led initiative following the 2016 launch failure that redefined space communications as a critical national asset. Now orbiting 35,000 km above Earth, Dror 1 will ensure secure, uninterrupted communication for both civilian and defense needs — combining space observation strength with powerful new infrastructure.
