Fear or Faith? This Week’s Torah Portion Speaks Powerfully!

So this week, let’s pray through Parashat Devarim.

First, pray for Israel’s leaders. Moses appointed wise and discerning leaders to help carry the responsibility of guiding the nation. Pray that Israel’s military and government leaders would receive wisdom, humility, and clear direction from God. “Choose for your tribes wise, understanding, and experienced men.” Deuteronomy 1:13.

Second, pray that fear would not overwhelm the people of Israel. Moses reminded the Israelites that they had seen God carry them through the wilderness like a father carries his son. Pray for families facing anxiety and uncertainty to remember God’s faithfulness. “The Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son.” Deuteronomy 1:31.

Finally, pray for protection and confidence in God. As Israel faces threats from Iran and across the region, pray that the nation would not place its hope only in military strength, but in the God who goes before them. “The Lord your God who goes before you will Himself fight for you.” Deuteronomy 1:30.
